Woodstone Project in Heerhugowaard – Sustainable Living in Wood (CLT)

The Woodstone Project in Heerhugowaard involves the construction of five sustainable residential buildings: one 12-story tower and four 6-story buildings. The buildings will feature brick facades with wooden window frames and wooden facade cladding and are integrated into the landscape according to an urban design by Rudy Uytenhaak + partners architects. The accompanying landscape design by Dijk & Co Landscape Architecture focuses on water infiltration and biodiversity.

Phase 1: Maple, Oak, and Pine

In the first phase, construction will begin on the Maple, Oak, and Pine residential buildings, designed by Boparai. These three blocks together comprise approximately one hundred homes.

Architecture and CLT Wooden Shell

The design for the Woodstone project was developed by the architectural firms Boparai and Mecanoo. Hamlet Design+Build Technology handled the structural design of the timber shell, constructed in Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT), including the stairwells and elevator shafts. The design was technically and sustainably developed in collaboration with Pieters Bouwtechniek, Merosch, and Arup.

Housing Options and Sustainability

The project offers a variety of housing options: XL studios, two-bedroom apartments, three-bedroom apartments in comfort and luxury versions, and penthouses. All units meet the BENG requirements and will be connected to the Heerhugowaard Sustainable Ring with thermal energy storage (TES). The units are equipped with HR++ glazing, heat recovery, and solar panels for the central utilities, and nearly all achieve an A+++ energy rating.

Parking is available in a secure, semi-underground parking garage with two levels and 175 parking spaces.
